This is unfamiliar.
Here I stand, peering at the Pro Wrestling Project website, and it tells me that I am to await a match with Rebecca Hendrix.
One that she asked ME for.
Specifically.
Now, I’ve done my best to do away with egos, but it’s hard not to feel a little flattered when someone tells you that you’re one of their dream opponents. That’s why this match is going down.
Now, I’ll be completely honest: My focus for the last few months has been on FGA first, and the careers of Ryan LeCavalier and Nina Stokes second. So I am unfamiliar with Becca. But she is apparently familiar with me.
So I guess I come into this match at a disadvantage, especially considering there is so little info to look up about her. I just know that she is itching to have this match with me.
That’s fine.
I hope that you are really sure you know what you’re getting yourself into, Becca. Because even though this is an exhibition challenge, I’m going to take the fight to you like it’s the biggest match of my career. You deserve no less from me on that front.
So when you and I step into the ring in about a week, expect the match of your life. Because if you’re prepared for anything less, you won’t last long.
Even though this match isn’t happening in FGA, I’m going into it like it matters still. I have plenty left to prove, and plenty to show the Pro Wrestling Project fans.
I have to wonder, Becca. Is this really what you wanted? Especially now, after the insane match I put on with former FGA champion Jimmy Page? Because if you haven’t seen that, I implore you...watch it. Because those are the lengths I will go to, to beat you. I don’t care if you’re the greatest thing in wrestling since the invention of the DDT, or if you’re brand new to the sport and you’re looking to make a name for yourself and have a dream match all in one.
Like I said, it doesn’t matter.
I guess what I’m trying to say to you is…
...be careful what you wish for. Because I’m more than happy to give you this match. I don’t see myself backing down from a challenge, and you got me at a time and place that I was open. You haven’t done anything to offend, so you get all the courtesies that come with that. But once that bell rings...you get Lady Luck.
And she’s quite tired of being seen as someone weak, or ‘not good.’ She’s just been through an absolute war with a demon machine bent on tearing her limb from limb. And she’s ready to let out a little extra aggression.
You will be the target of that aggression. But I’ll keep it as business only as I can. Unless you think making this personal is a smart idea.
Spoiler alert? It’s not.
Come ready for war, marine girl. Lady Luck is going to teach you what she’s all about.
Fujiko opened her eyes slowly. She felt tired, and a bit listless. It had only been a few hours since he contest with Jimmy Page, and she still felt like her body didn’t care to listen to her. It was far too tired. It had done everything she’d asked it to do for the past hour, and now it decided that it’s reward was rest.
It served her well, and the tandem of her mind and body brought her a victory over former FGA champion, Jimmy Page. It was exactly what she’d wanted at the time, but now all she wanted was some food and to cuddle up with her adorable french bulldog, Henry.
"Fujiko with the clean kill out here YOOOOO!"
Fujiko winced as Kayden strode into her field of vision, a porcelain grin evident on her face. Kayden shook Fujiko by the shoulder, which elicited a groan from the woman known as lady luck.
"C’mon Fujiko...we got places to be! We gotta celebrate and shit! YOU WON!"
Fujiko used the rest of the air in her lungs to groan once more. "My body would like to celebrate by lying here on this bed for the next eight to ten hours." Flashbacks of being thrown around the ring assaulted her as she closed her eyes. They were worth it, but the reminder brought the soreness back to the forefront of her mind.
"I just want to rest. Velma has me going to some new yoga class in the morning. I’ve got Rebecca Hendrix in a few days. I can’t let her get one over on me."
Kayden shook her head in disappointment. "Fujiko, you can’t be doing this to yourself again, babygirl. You gonna run yourself out of the game if you keep worrying about it!" Fujiko shook her head, then pushed herself up somewhat. She gritted her teeth as she did so, wishing that she hadn’t. "It’s different this time. I’m not going to run myself ragged this time, I promise. It’s all yoga and low impact training for this match this time." A slight pause overtook the room, as Kayden judged her words, and Fujiko thought of a way to further convince her. "Also, there’s really no tape out there on this girl, so I can’t stay up all night watching something that doesn’t exist."
Kayden seemed satisfied with that, and let it go there. Fujiko was equally satisfied that Kayden was going to back off of her. She forced herself up the rest of the way, and leaned back into the back of the couch.
"You got out and have all the fun that I would have for me. But be safe, obviously." Kayden rolled her eyes in response.
"Obviously I’m going to have fun, and I’m going to be safe. I’m not driving myself, so I got nothing to worry about on that front. Plus, Hiro’ll be there, so I won’t have to worry about any cretins." Fujiko closed her eyes and smiled, her mind drifting off into a place that would allow her some clean rest. She tried to resist it, and she thought she could hear Kayden’s muffled speech...but sleep overtook her quickly.
After what seemed like a few moments, Fujiko’s eyes snapped open. She wasn’t sure where she was, but it became clear that she was no longer in her hotel room in Toronto. She looked around, and she saw her mother standing opposite her, a blank expression on her face.
"Mom? W-what are you--?"
Fujiko didn’t get a chance to finish her query, as she watched her mother ignore her question and turn away from her. Fujiko looked on, puzzled as Marcia knelt down and spoke to someone...or something. She was unclear as to what was going on, but her feelings of displacement nagged at her. She wasn’t sure of where she was, but for whatever reason that quickly became an insignificant detail. She felt like she didn’t know where she was, but she decided not to do anything that would disturb what was going on.
She watched carefully as her mother spoke gently at something or someone she could not locate. It bothered her that she could not hear the words, or see who it was her mother was talking to. Her curiosity taking over, she took a few steps closer. Her mother seemed to hesitate, as if she could sense the presence of an intruder. Fujiko froze. She feared that she was going to scare her away, as if she were a doe or some other similar animal. She paused, and then did her best to slowly inch forward, hoping that closing the distance would reveal a bit of the mystery. She crept a little closer to where her mother rested, and wished to herself that she had something to disguise her approach. Still, she dared not stop moving now; her curiosity too much to overcome. Just when she thought she’d gotten close enough, Marcia whirled around, standing in front of her in an instant. The kind face that she wore to speak to the unknown person morphed into a mask of anger. Fujiko’s shock rang through her like a poisoned arrow.
"WHAT IS IT YOU WANT, LITTLE BIRD?!"
Fujiko couldn’t think of anything to say in response. She’d been utterly blindsided, and stammered away while her mother looked down on her, impossibly high up.
"LITTLE BIRD, YOU'VE ALWAYS STUCK YOUR NOSE WHERE IT DIDN’T BELONG. YOU HAD TO FIND ME, DIDN’T YOU? WHY? WAS HIRO NOT ENOUGH?"
Fujiko finally tried to get an answer out.
"I...I just wanted to know about you, and to know about myself…"
"YOURSELF?! HA! YOU HAVE ONLY LEARNED THAT YOU KNOW NOTHING!"
"But...I…"
"NOTHING!"
Fujiko stumbled backwards, landing on her bottom. It didn’t hurt, but her flight instincts kicked in. She needed to escape.
"NOTHING! NOTHING! YOU KNOW NOTHING! NOTHING! NOTHING! YOU KNOW NOTHING! NOTHING! NOTHING! YOU KNOW NOTHING! NOTHING! NOTHING! YOU KNOW NOTHING!"
Marcia began an odd, jerky dance as she chanted, her voice booming impossibly loud. Marcia pounced on Fujiko, screaming in her face.
"NOTHING! NOTHING! YOU KNOW NOTHING! NOTHING! NOTHING! YOU KNOW NOTHING!"
Fujiko seemed to fall back, and she fell head over heels. She tried to scream, but nothing came out. She finally sat upright, and the room was dark.
She was awake. Sweat glazed her face, and she took in deep gulps of air. Her fear slowly subsided, and she sighed.
It wasn’t over. Not yet, anyway.

Rebecca Hendrix sat pondering the question that her opponent put forth Rebecca: why do I want to wrestle Fujiko Mine? Well, sugar, that is an interesting question, before you go on Twitter and retweet pictures of food or say "I'm not important enough to actually be challenged by someone, what does this Texan have up her sleeve?" The answer is this, I want to step into the ring with one of the best women wrestlers in the business, and that is exactly what you are Fuji, you've held a lot of championships in FGA, you're the former LAW champion. You are honestly everything I want to be, everything I look up to. Rebecca thinks for a second Rebecca: well, Fuji, I think that we can be best friends, but when we are standing across from each other, there are no friends, so good luck sugar, and may the best woman win
