This is it. This is our moment. This is what we've been searching for.
The main event stage has somewhat become a familiarity for Mark Storm in the last year as he has managed to propel from the independent circuit into the big time leagues; a journey that has been a roller-coaster to say the least, as you'd expect - twists and turns, ups and downs along the way. He's been at the very top of the wrestling industry. Competing in the illustrious promotion, Extreme Wrestling Corporation, managing to add the World Heavyweight Championship within a matter of months. But he had to start from the bottom to reach such heights, competing in a number of dark matches which would in truth determine his destiny.
It wasn't an easy ride.
But just like any other success story, it never is.
Great moments are born in great opportunities, and that's what we have here.
He announces from the podium, clearing his throat once he finishes his sentence and looking out at the rest of the press room who have their eyes fixated on him. With his WARPED Junior Heavyweight title draped on his shoulder, dressed in a smart attire consisting of; a blazer blazer with a t-shirt underneath, black skinny fit trousers and some converses on his feet. The champion shuffles his championship belt up his shoulder; a smirk appearing upon his lips as he adjusts the microphone a little. Muttering ensues the room, reporters speaking among themselves as Mark Storm prepares himself, evidentially not impressed with the muttering.
Not on my time, shut the hell up. This is my time.
You hear that? This is my time, so nobody else speak.
Silence exasperates the room and Mark Storm has once again regained control of the situation, clearing his throat, he runs his fingers through his hair; licking his dry lips before beginning his speech:
Pro Wrestling Project 19: Mark Storm versus Blyss Lockhart in the main event. My first match here in PWP and I already find myself in the main event, which is fitting because that's exactly what I am. I'm a main event wrestler. I'm not saying this with vanity or cockiness, I'm saying this because it's the truth. It's a fact and if you don't want to believe it, that's up to you. You see I've been a main event performer ever since last year.. when I starred in one of the biggest events of the year and captured my first ever world title in the professional game.
Cute, huh?
He rhetorically poses the question to the reporters before continuing.
Within three months of being apart of Extreme Wrestling Corp; I was the man that everybody wanted to knock off of the top, I was on top of the mountain looking down at the mountaineers trying to get to the heights that I reached, I was King Kong looking at all the little people at the top of the empire state building. All within the space of three months.. now a lot has happened since then, I lost that title as you all may know, but I lost it after holding onto it through most of the year. I lost that title but I gained a trait that I now treasure, I trait that means so much to me and I'll keep with me throughout the rest of my career.
Never. Quit. Attitude.
He holds up three fingers.
I lost that title and immediately people thought I'd fall off the radar but I bounced back. Last week I just decided that fuck it, I need another title in my accolades, so decided to win the gauntlet match to win this little beauty on my shoulder. I bounced straight back and now I'm ready to get some more, I'm hungry for some more gold, and I'm hungry for some more wins. And that's why I'm here, in PWP. If you haven't already realized Mark Storm has been appearing on television screens almost everywhere, competing for a number of promotions. EWC gave me the opportunity to embark on a Global Tour, so I took that opportunity and I've found myself competing across the globe.
England, Japan, New Zealand Mexico - you name it, I'm there.
I'm there because I want to make myself into a global commodity, it's all fine and dandy being the nations wrestling superstars but I'm not about that anymore, I'm looking to impact the wrestling industry on a global scale. Pro Wrestling Project just happens to be another platform for me to do that and they have graciously put me in the main event on February 19th in the historic 2300 arena in Philadelphia against one of the best. Undoubtedly. You may hate her but you can't deny the fact that she's one of the best; she's a former Insurgency Wrestling Federation Rising Phoenix Champion, also holding the High Impact title. She's the current Portland Pro Openweight Champion. She's the epitome of excellence. Blyss Lockhart has been doing this dance for quite some time now and she's made a name for herself, she's managed to become recognized but she isn't a global commodity, she isn't a wrestling God. She isn't invincible. She's most certainly breakable, though tough, I know my own strengths as well as my weaknesses, and I know her strengths and her weaknesses. I'll exploit that, I'll exploit her.
But it's not going to be an easy task, I know that!
But Blyss I want you to listen to me. I want you to digest the words that are coming out of my mouth right now; February 27th, you're not going to beat me. I've got a series of matches that could define my career coming up this weekend and Blyss, believe it or not, this match could also be a contender for that. PWP resembles a company that promotes its wrestlers on a global scale, with countless affiliates and numerous countries tuning in to watch the best! And thats what I am Blyss, I'm the best.
He holds up his title with his right hand.
And you probably tell yourself that you are too, competing over in Portland, exclusively. But whilst you remain exclusive I remain adventurous, I'm here there and everywhere honing my skills, I'm a new breed of professional wrestling. There's no one like me and there will never be anyone like me and that's a known fact. I'm the spokesman of a generation, the leader of a generation; the greatest to ever do this shit - I'm the man who's going to walk out of our match February 27th the victor and unfortunately for you, there's nothing you can do about that but watch.
I already know what you're going to say about you. I already know that you probably think that I'm delusional because that's what people like you do, when you hear something you don't like, you call it delusion, because you can't face the truth. You'll probably call me out of my mind, well in that case, you're damn right, it's a well known fact that I'm a schizophrenic. You're probably going to compare me to a few of the mediocre talents you've come across throughout your career, well those points will be invalid because I'm like nothing you've ever faced before.
Right now, I've got the word in my hands Blyss and no one is going to take it away from me. I've worked too hard for too long to get to where I am right now, to be knocked off of the pedestal, you're not going to be the one to knock me down. And as I stand here, with the WARPED Junior Heavyweight title on my shoulder, a smile on my face and confidence going into our match, lemme tell you how you should be feeling.
Afraid!
He states, leaning closer to the microphone as his vacant eyes engage with the camera, flash photography beginning to ensue as the press have a really good shot of Storm, who then smirks and returns to his speech.
Afraid of what I'm going to do to you. Afraid of what I'm going to put you through.
I've been to hell and back Blyss, I've seen it all and I'll be damn sure to take you on a ride along. I've got coupons and some souvenirs, maybe we can go get a grab to eat after, huh? But in all seriousness Blyss, I'm prepared to push you to your limits. Scratch that. I'm going to take you to your limits. I'll take you to a place that no other wrestler has got you too. Free of charge of course. February 27th beckons and time for talk is over. It's your turn to preach your venom.
He lifts his head high and exists the scene as the scene cuts to black.
